French Toast

This is vegan French toast & it’s amazing. I’ve been missing French toast for quite some time but the chick pea flour makes for some AMAZING, vegan french toast. The only down side to this is that you need to cook your toast in a bit of oil because the chick pea flour really gets sticky when cooking but it’s worth a delicious splurge every once and awhile.

Ingredients:
-1 loaf sliced French bread or bread of choice (day old is best)
-1 c almond milk (or vegan milk of choice)
-1/4 c chick pea flour (also called besan flour)
-1/4 tsp vanilla extract
-1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
-canola oil – enough to cover pan + more for every batch of toast cooked
– powder sugar, fruit, and syrup for topping

Directions:
– pour milk and flour into a shallow dish and whisk until combined
– add the spices & extract and whisk again
-put oil in a large pan and heat on medium high heat
-dip a slice of bread into the milk mixture then flip so the other side is saturated and place into hot pan
-fill the pan with a few slices
– cook first side until golden (about 2 mins)
– flip and repeat on the other side
– cook the rest of your bread like this but you may need to add a bit more oil in between batches
– sprinkle with powdered sugar, sliced bananas, strawberries, and blue berries
-serve with natural maple syrup
-enjoy delicious vegan French toast!
